Number 233 is a four string mandolin. Having only 4 strings makes a very small, light instrument, easy to play and perfect for smaller hands. The body is dark curly maple, and the top is western red cedar with oval hole and extra-light Gibson inspired tone bar bracing. Scale is 13.5 inches. This instrument has a crisp, punchy attack and medium-bright tone making it perfect for single note styles such as Irish tunes. The appearance is simple with all black trim and gold tuners. It has my usual features -- zero fret, side port, adjustable bolt-on neck, internal carbon tube stabilizer brace -- but no truss rod, just carbon fiber bars in the neck. Basic hard case.
