Number 135
This is an alto mandola (CGDA) in spalted sycamore with Engelmann
spruce top. Scale is 430 mm.
Construction features include the usual user-friendly bolt-on
neck, modern 2-way adjustable truss rod, carbon fiber internal
compression brace, side sound port, and tone-bar bracing of the top.
Body shape is ornate, my "take" on the F-style, with a similar
pointy shape for the peg head. The bindings, head veneer,
and pick guard are rare Madagascar rosewood. Ornate gold
pearl inlay and gold frets and hardware complete the traditional,
sumptuous look.
The tone is full and rich with a clean attack, and lots of
that distinctive mandola mid-range.
