Number 238 is an arch top mandocello with 2-point body style and an oval sound hole. The body is macassar ebony and the top is Engelmann spruce. Trim is rosewood and macassar ebony. Scale is 660 mm or 26 inches, about an inch longer than Gibson standard to allow less massive strings and produce more overtones. Construction has asymmetrical X top bracing. The sound is rich and strong with an organ-like low end and clear, bright highs with long sustain throughout. Would give a solid low end to any mandolin orchestra. It has all my standard features such as zero fret, side port, internal carbon tube compression strut, adjustable bolt on neck, elevated pick guard and modern two way truss rod.
