Number 57
This is an oval hole arch-top mandolin reminiscent of the
oval hole "A" models. The body is peroba rosa and the top is Sitka
spruce. The finish is low luster varnish.
Structurally the top and back are both X braced. The bolt-on
neck has the usual modern 2-way truss rod. The bridge has height
adjustment screws.
This instrument glows with warm red tones of the peroba rosa
body and pick guard and bloodwood fingerboard and head veneer.
Dark rosewood binding outlines the body, gold hardware sparkles,
and the green Paua abalone rosette and inlays contrast nicely
for a gorgeous combination.
The tone, as with many oval-hole mandolins, is sweet and singing.
With the Thomastik Medium strings, it's ideal for classical
Mandolin Orchestra or Celtic music.
