Number 73
This is a Dreadnaught guitar commissioned by young Brian Roe of
the Roe Family Band. A month after he received it, Brian took
third place in the flat pick contest at Merlefest 2007!
It has a Brazilian rosewood body and red spruce top, giving
it a powerful but balanced tone.
Design includes a traditional Martin style X-braced top, a modern
truss rod and a very non-traditional fully adjustable bolt-on neck.
The neck has an "extension" which fits into a recess in the soundboard.
Decoration includes abalone inlay of Brian's name on the headstock
and an abalone rosette. Bindings are black ebony with a white
veneer line framing the rosewood. Bone bridge pins and end pin
contrast with the dark wood, and gold Grover vintage tuners complete
the traditional look.
Finish is low luster gel varnish, with gloss oil varnish on the top.
