Number 72
This guitar was commissioned by my friend Byron Lemay, who wanted a
nylon-string guitar but "something unusual". So I made him an archtop
guitar with nylon strings. Body is maple and top is Sitka spruce.
Construction, as you might expect, is very light. The top is braced
with one long diagonal brace with three very small cross-braces.
Sound is good and evenly balanced.
Decoration includes trim and appointments of camatillo rosewood
(dalbergia congestiflora), a beautiful purple rosewood from Central
America. It has such wonderful color that anything else would
be superfluous.
