Number 253 is an octave mandolin with small guitar body and acoustic-guitar type X bracing and pin bridge. As a result it has a tone similar to a guitar, rich and not overly bright. The body is black acacia (it's the bark which is black, the wood is golden) and the top is red spruce. Scale length is 22 inches. Trim is ebony with an arm rest matching the body. Elegant black and gold appearance with abalone inlay. My usual structural features (truss rod, zero fret, adjustable and removable neck joint, side port, etc.).
