Number 197

Number 197 is a deep back octave mandolin with 3 piece staved back and a creased top reminiscent of a classical bowl-back mandolin. The body is Khaya (an African mahogany) and the top is spruce. Trim is walnut with dyed blue veneer lines, with a walnut arm rest, rosette and tail piece, and black Gotoh mini tuners. Scale is 575 mm. or about 22-1/2". Construction includes my standard features: zero fret, 2-way truss rod, bolt-on adjustable neck and side port. Finish is brushed Pratt & Lambert oil varnish. The tone is rich, complex and loud.
