Number 81
This is a flat-top bouzouki with a guitar-style pinned bridge.
The body in chechen (metopium brownii), a fine dense Mexican
hardwood similar to the best rosewood. The top is old-growth
Sitka spruce from Alaska.
Scale length is like a guitar (648 mm), tuned in unison pairs.
As you might expect from the construction, the sound is more
guitar-like than most arch-top bouzoukis, producing a rich,
round, balanced tone.
Construction features include the usual user-friendly bolt-on neck
with Martin-style X bracing in the top. The neck has a modern
2-way adjustable truss rod.
Decoration includes gold mother-of-pearl Celtic knot inlays with
matching chechen bridge and head veneer. Gold mini-tuners
with small plastic buttons are light weight, and complement the gold
pearl for a rich brown-and-bold look. Finish is satin gel varnish.
This is a great instrument for any style.
